<script data-ad-client="ca-pub-0193636121814651" async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif;">
</span><br />
<div style="font-family: verdana, sans-serif;">
<span style="font-size: small;">It is a fact that more than 16 percent of all workplace falls result in
injuries or illness that affect the productive environment of a
workplace. It becomes essential then to employ means to prevent falls at
the workplace. Falls at the workplace are mainly of two kinds: those
that happen in single-story structures and those that occur from a
higher level. </span></div>
</div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
Most falls occurring from slips and trips at the same level are caused
due to slipping on an icy surface or tripping over an object. A fraction
of the falls occurring from different levels happen when people fall
off ladders, steps or a higher floor. It is also a fact that falls at
the workplace can be prevented. Although accidents are not easy to
guess, it's still quite possible to prevent them from happening. Doing
away with unsafe acts and conditions can control such accidents. Look
for ways to prevent slips, trips and falls from occurring at the
workplace. Once these hazards are eliminated you can usually prevent
accidents from taking place. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
Some of the precautions you can take to avoid accidents are: </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
. Ensure that all spills and wet surfaces are immediately cleaned up
from the floor. Do not allow any residual slimy leftovers to be lying
around on the floor as it could be a cause for a potential slip or fall.
</span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
. See to it that all walking pathways in the office are clutter-free. Do
not allow normal walkways to be littered by any object that might
result in people tripping and falling over. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
. In case you need to reach up to something that's high up in the
office, always use a safe stepladder. Never use chairs or desks to climb
up to access things above your head. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
. Make sure that you only carry loads that you can safely handle. While
carrying objects, make sure that your line of vision is not affected and
that you are not carrying a load that is too heavy-weighty objects may
make you stumble under their weight. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
. Always have good illumination around the office space. Whether indoors
or near to the exteriors, ensure that lighting is adequate and
visibility is not affected. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
. Always wear good footwear when you are walking about. We may not have
control over the condition of the surface that we walk on. But we do
have control over what we choose to wear on our feet. Increasing
friction between the soles of your shoes and the surface on which you
are walking greatly reduces the risk of slip-injuries. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">
. Follow safety tips to choose the right shoes for the prevailing
conditions. Wear hard rubber soles for greasy, concrete or wood
flooring. Soft rubber shoes are good for dry surfaces. Crepe soles are
best for rough concrete surfaces, dry or wet, and neoprene soles are
good and safe on most wet or dry surfaces.

<script data-ad-client="ca-pub-0193636121814651" async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Most homes and buildings have ladders for all kinds of
maintenance jobs required around structures. Ladders are useful tools to
have, but certain safety measures must always be obeyed to help prevent
accidents. For example, always make sure that ladders or stepladders
are not left out unattended. Ladders must never be left by themselves as
children, passersby and even pets may find them tempting or
accidentally trip on them. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Ensure the safe use of ladders and you'll help save yourself a trip to
the hospital-keep safety in mind at all times when you are working on a
ladder. It always pays to be careful as the slightest error in judgment
could cause you to have an awful plunge. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
So whether you are a simply changing a light bulb, lopping off a branch
over the roof or painting the walls, you have got to be just a bit more
careful while on a ladder. It's wise spending time setting up ladders
efficiently. Make it safe before you climb up. It only takes a little
time to provide that firm footing and stabilize it. Here are some
suggestions to ensure ladder safety: </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. Make thorough scrutiny of the ladder before using it. Inspect the
rungs carefully and make sure they are not loose or skidding. Attach
skid-resistant strips to be safe. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. Always watch out for signs of any cracks or splits. In case of bent
rungs, make sure you repair them before you use the ladder. Bent rungs
are very unsafe and should not exist above three feet. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. Take care to position the ladder so that the distance between the base
and the wall is a minimum of one-quarter of the ladder's length up to
the point of support. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. Extension ladders provide additional reach but you must ensure that
when you open them, there is at least three feet of overlap. Also be
very sure to click shut the rung locks to engage them properly. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. Whenever you climb up and down the ladder, have your face towards the
ladder. Also, keep at least one hand on the rails at all times. In cases
where you need both hands to do a job, secure yourself firmly to the
ladder. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. Stepladders should not be opened halfway up. They ought to be fully opened and the braces should be locked tightly. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. You should always ensure that the feet of the ladder are always on a
dry, even surface. Wet and uneven surfaces can be very hazardous. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. Never use an aluminum ladder near live electrical sources. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. See that you climb only as high as the ladder is designed to go up.
Under no circumstance should you ever climb past the final rung; where
your hips are above the top of the ladder. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. Remember to store tools or smaller equipment in your back pockets or
your tool belt. This way you will not have to climb up and down too
often. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. At no point in time should you allow more than one person on a ladder.
Also, avoid having someone stand directly beneath you while you are on
the ladder in case you drop anything. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
. Most ladders come with written instructions on them advising you
exactly how to use them. It's always a good idea to read these warnings
and follow them closely.

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
A workshop is only as safe as you make it. One must ensure
proper workshop safety since ultimately you are responsible for the
safety of the personnel. Even a home workshop requires that you take
care of safety measures. Here are a few ground rules. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Keep the workshop as clean as you possibly can. Of course, a workshop is
used for a number of uses and it can easily get cluttered. Make it a
habit to organize on a daily basis. Even just putting tools and
apparatus away in proper places would be a great beginning. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Next, remember to keep all combustible items away from spark-producing
activities. All inflammable articles must be away from your welding
table. Keep a fixed place to store your gas can. Paint and glass can be
damaged by sparks from a grinder so keep these away from spark-producing
equipment as well. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Remember to wear safety goggles and face shield when grinding or using
cutting tools. Never put off this safety essential that can prevent you
from serious injury. Wearing them ensures you never have to go to the
emergency room. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Have reliable support for all your equipment. This prevents objects from
falling and causing painful injuries. Maintain organization and control
of your work space. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Take care of sudden interruptions in the form of kids, pets or friends
who might just walk into your workshop. Make arrangements to keep such
safe so that there are no hazards. Visualize and plan your projects with
a view to avoid accidents. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Ensure the usefulness of your tools in that they are up to the mark and
ready for use. It can be quite frustrating to find out that a tool is
not working when you need it to work. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
You should also stay focused on the job with a great deal of
concentration so as to ensure things do not go wrong. If you are not
feeling up to it leave the job for another time. Follow your intuition
and instinct. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
You must also keep all precautions in mind when you undertake a job with
inherent serious risks involved. Never imbibe alcohol when you are
going to be in your workshop. You should also avoid your workshop when
emotionally upset and only work when relaxed and in control of your mind
and body.

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; font-weight: normal; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: small;">Increasingly, computer-related health injuries are a
leading cause of workplace occupational hazards. Computer usage is
common by a substantial part of the working environment all over the
world. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
There are ways to reduce computer-related health trauma, by observing
safety measures to counter injuries caused by the office environment.
Occupational safety measures recommend healthy use of computers so as to
lessen the negative impact on human health. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Safety professionals are now advocating precautions in the use of
computers that have become virtual standalone offices. Health problems
caused by exposure to computers occur through cumulative trauma
disorders connected with prolonged interaction on machines. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Common fatigue may be more than just physical stress. Stay on guard if
symptoms persist after a night of rest or interfere significantly with
work-related activities. If the problem is indeed work-related then you
need to look for ways to adjust to your work environment and work
towards alleviating workplace health problems. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
Here are 10 easy steps to do ensure a healthy work environment: </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
1 Counter the effect of carpal tunnel syndrome of the wrist and hand by
relieving yourself of the mouse and keyboard from time to time. Take
breaks to let your fingers relax and enjoy hand rubs in between. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
2 You need to adjust the location of work and the angle of the machine
in such a way that your body continuously maintains an unstrained and
comfortable position. Your arms, forearms and shoulders should be fully
relaxed. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
3 More often it is the continuous exposure to the computer monitor that
may be the cause of eyestrain. In this case you should always have a
quality glare filter fixed on your monitor screen. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
4 Work with a light screen background (dark type or images on white or pale background). You'll find it is easier on your eyes. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
5 Place the monitor and source documents so that they are about the same
distance from your eyes. Use a document holder immediately next to the
monitor. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
6 Rest the muscles of your eyes by focusing on a distant object occasionally. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
7 Change your body position periodically throughout the day. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
8 The position of the keyboard should be at a proper level in front of
you. It is important to ensure proper elbow height that enables you to
type with straight wrists. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
9 It's important to be completely relaxed while working on the computer.
Injuries and pain can be a problem if you remain constantly tensed as
that affects the muscles of the neck and shoulders. </div>
<div style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif;">
10 A good chair significantly reduces the risk of lower back pain or
injury. An ergonomic chair provides comfortable lumbar support and
allows for a variety of seated postures.

<script data-ad-client="ca-pub-0193636121814651" async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<br />
There are two slightly different meanings of safety. For example, home safety may indicate a building’s ability to protect<br />
<br />
against external harm events (such as weather, home invasion, etc.), or may indicate that its internal installations (such<br />
<br />
as appliances, stairs, etc.) are safe (not dangerous or harmful) for its inhabitants.<br />
<br />
Discussions of safety often include mention of related terms. Security is such a term. With time the definitions between<br />
<br />
these two have often become interchanged, equated, and frequently appear juxtaposed in the same sentence. Readers<br />
<br />
unfortunately are left to conclude whether they comprise a redundancy. This confuses the uniqueness that should be reserved<br />
<br />
for each by itself. When seen as unique, as we intend here, each term will assume its rightful place in influencing and<br />
<br />
being influenced by the other.<br />
<br />
Safety is the condition of a “steady state” of an organization or place doing what it is supposed to do. “What it is<br />
<br />
supposed to do” is defined in terms of public codes and standards, associated architectural and engineering designs,<br />
<br />
corporate vision and mission statements, and operational plans and personnel policies. For any organization, place, or<br />
<br />
function, large or small, safety is a normative concept. It complies with situation-specific definitions of what is<br />
<br />
expected and acceptable.<br />
<br />
Using this definition, protection from a home’s external threats and protection from its internal structural and equipment<br />
<br />
failures (see Meanings, above) are not two types of safety but rather two aspects of a home’s steady state.<br />
<br />
In the world of everyday affairs, not all goes as planned. Some entity’s steady state is challenged. This is where security<br />
<br />
science, which is of more recent date, enters. Drawing from the definition of safety, then:<br />
<br />
Security is the process or means, physical or human, of delaying, preventing, and otherwise protecting against external or<br />
<br />
internal, defects, dangers, loss, criminals, and other individuals or actions that threaten, hinder or destroy an<br />
<br />
organization’s “steady state,” and deprive it of its intended purpose for being.<br />

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div>
<b>Safety is the state of being “safe” (from French sauf), the condition of being protected against physical, social, spiritual, financial, political, emotional, occupational, psychological, educational or other types or consequences of failure, damage, error,accidents, harm or any other event which could be considered non-desirable. Safety can also be defined to be the control of recognized hazards to achieve an acceptable level of risk. This can take the form of being protected from the event or from exposure to something that causes health or economical losses. It can include protection of people or of possessions.</b></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>Why Safety is important?</b></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>Safety is important because it helps keep humans, environment, and property out of harms way. There are many steps that can be taken to keep oneself safe. For example; It is important to look both ways before crossing the street. That is one instance where one takes action to stay safe.</b></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>So what can Safety do for you?</b></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>The benefits of maintaining a safe work environment are many, but first and foremost, safety is about what you can do to protect our lives. “It’s the right thing to do.</b></div>
